Who we are
At Red Dragon Self Defense we continue to teach the art of Northern Shou Shu as it was originally taught by our founder, Sijo Al Moore Sr. Our Grand Master, Da Shifu James Clark, oversees the Red Dragon Shou Shu system, and ensures the purity of the teachings. Red Dragon Shou Shu is a seven animal Chinese system, with techniques that were designed for self defense.
Red Dragon Shou Shu teaches practical self defense against attacks of all kinds. Students learn to defend against punches, kicks, grabs, chokes, takedowns, knife attacks, and people who may be armed with bats, guns, or other weapons.
Shou Shu is not for sport, points competitions or show. It is designed for defense against real world attacks from people who are trying to harm you, your loved ones, or anyone who may find the need for protection.

Our Grand Master
Da Shifu James Clark is an eighth degree black belt and the head of the Red Dragon Northern Shou Shu System.
Da Shifu Clark began his training under Sijo Al Moore Sr., in 1972. Sijo Al Moore was his direct instructor until he passed away in 2002. Da Shifu Clark learned the entire system, including all 7 animal styles, directly from Sijo Al Moore and was promoted to 8th degree (Da Shifu), prior to his death.
The responsibility of passing on the pure art, as it was originally taught, was left to Da Shifu Clark. He has dedicated his entire adult life to training and teaching Northern Shou Shu and continues to teach the Shun Shifus (heads of schools) and many other black belts, with regular lessons, as well as conducting training seminars.
